Cafe Racer on Ebay

I decided to list the red cafe racer on ebay Friday. This one has a hot rod look  instead of the more cafe racer look of the last ones.  I like it.

I sold the last one in 2 hours, this one is taking a little longer.  If it doesn't sell right away, I won't be too upset. I took Rebecca for a ride today, she said it was fun and comfortable. It is nice being able to take the kids and Tami for a ride on my project bikes.

CB750K0 Fork tubes

I didn't plan to do a restoration, but the more I work on it, I just can't help myself. I took the forks apart to replace the seals, then I cleaned them, sanded, buffed and put a stock finish on them. I think I will put on some new oem gaiters at least the entire fork and triple tree assembly will look as good as new.

Old Photos

I ran across this photo of a couple of my relatives. The first one is Earl Smith, back row on the right side  and Briar Johnson , directly in front of him in the blue T-shirt. Briar was a pretty well known racer in the50s and 60s. Earl still races from time to time.

Newest Cafe Racer Road Trip

I took the newest cafe racer for a short trip today. I went on a ride with Mark to Johnny Ringo Day in Greensfork IN,I put 100 miles on it to make sure it is road ready. I need to make some minor adjustments to the carbs and a couple of other things, all in all a good ride and a great bike.
This was the first ride of any distance for the XS400 Mark built a couple of months ago. Everything was good on his bike too.

CB750 KO

The CB750 KO I picked up last year, has been sitting in the corner of the shop, until yesterday when I put it back on a lift. I have the Montesa underway, and the latest cafe racer completed, but I need something to ride on a possible trip to Elkhart Lake Vintage Days. I figured I should ride a vintage bike to a vintage bike weekend.
It is about 8 hours or more to Elkhart Lake, so I better give the KO a good going over. I don't plan on restoring it, or modifying it. I want to put some on new tires, cables, and rebuild the brakes check the valves and some other stuff. Then I will clean it up and that should about do it.

Noah wins out over Montesa

After Noahs' baseball game was over today, he went to the shop and tried a different puller on the Montesa crank gear. It popped right off and we split the cases and tagged the parts. The tranny looks very good and the bearing are fine also. We will clean it up, and get it ready to re-assemble. I will post some photos when we get ready to put it back together.

Orchestra Tonight, Montesa on hold

Noah hasn't been available to work at the shop the past few evenings. Baseball at the end of last week and this week he has had orchestra rehearsal on Monday and a concert tonight. I promised him I would not work on the Montesa engine until he was there with me, so I have been doing some other stuff.
This was his first concert, he plays the bass. Rebecca is also in the orchestra, she plays the cello. It is pretty cool seeing the progress that they make from season to season.

Montesa 250MX engine tear down

Noah and I took the Montesa Cappra 250MX engine apart after school today. It's actually in pretty good shape. The seals were shot and the wires to the Motoplat need a new cover, but at first look it seems pretty good. We couldn't get the chain sprocket off with a puller, but plan on upping our game tomorrow.

Noah working at the shop

Noah was supposed to have a baseball game tonight, but since it is raining again, he decided to tear down one of the next projects. He stripped it down to the frame, put the parts on the shelf and has it ready for the storm tank tomorrow. I think I will have him split the engine tomorrow and get it ready for the ultrasonic cleaner. I like having him at the shop, he comes up with some very good ideas, some of them I might actually use.
