Time to Build One

I have been working on several projects and getting the retail side of the shop up and running, but now it is time to get back to building a cafe racer. The fourth CB750 project has been sitting in the corner waiting patiently, so it is time to get busy, plus I need something else to ride for a while.

Bad Day for Old Motorcycles

I tore down the CB900 engine late today, well it wasn't a blown head gasket. It appears that #2 and #3 cylinders got very hot and the head has a crack running through the exhaust valve in the #2 cylinder. Then I called Andy and told him the bad news. It was a bad motorcycle day for Andy. He also had bad news about his BMW after 350,000 miles it will probably be laid to rest.

Ramsey Cascades

We went hiking this morning in the Smoky Mountains. The kids had a great time jumping boulders in the river, and crossing it on a tree bridge. The final destination made the 8 mile hike worth the effort.

1981 Honda CB900F

This CB900F has been setting several years, I think about 9 years by the date on the license plates. It made its way to my shop late yesterday in need of a diagnosis. Well it isn't too good but it's not too bad. Low compression on 2 and 3, probably a head gasket, hopefully no damage has been done to the head or cylinders. Carbs need cleaned and rebuilt. I was told it wasn't charging when it was parked. I'm guessing that didn't fix itself either. The silicone that was covering the inlet for the tach cable was hiding another problem.

I would like to put it back it back, close to original, maybe a 4 into 1 exhaust. Loose the center stand a set of superbike handlebars and maybe a new speedo and tach. Andy are you reading this?

Ready to leave the frame.

This is a bad thing. The casting for the tach drive is cracked.
